What is the VBMA National Business Certificate Program (BCP)?

To earn the Business Certification (previously Silver), you must obtain 4 credits in each category for a total of 16 credits.

To earn the Business Certification with Honors (previously Gold), you must obtain 8 credits in each category for a total of 32 credits; you must also complete the Business Portfolio.

The Business Certification with Honors has become the more advanced certification option to replace the Gold Certificate. Only the Class of 2018 and earlier are eligible for the Gold Certificate (without completing the Business Portfolio). The Class of 2019 and later are required to complete the Business Portfolio in order to obtain the Business Certification with Honors.

For more information about the Business Portfolio please visit our National VBMA website here.

For the Spring 2018 Honors Portfolio Applicaiton, click here.

The next due date for submission of the Honors Portfolio is April 1st, 2018.

There are 3 business courses offered that MAY count toward your certification status. As a VBMA member, you are allowed to use 1 class toward a Silver/Business Certification and 2 courses toward Gold/Business Certificate with Honors status. You cannot use all 3 classes toward completion of the certificate program, even if you have taken all 3. You can, however, choose the courses you use.  For instance, you may choose to use the Practice Management course instead of the Law Class since it offers 4 credits instead of 2 credits.
